We are a small, interdisciplinary team of creatives driven by a deep commitment to service, impact, and human-centered design. We believe in the power of modernizing user and employee experiences to change the world, and we are looking for a Senior Data Storyteller to join our remote team and support our work with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, you will use your technical expertise and systems mindset to reduce barriers to care for Veterans, their families, and their caregivers.
Key outcomes
- Lead the integration and streamlining of data sources using visual tools to create effective, real-time presentations for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of researchers, designers, and product managers to identify knowledge gaps and develop bespoke visualization solutions.
- Translate complex data sets into intuitive, interactive dashboards and visual stories based on service blueprints.
- Maintain a commitment to accessibility and evidence-based design while navigating complex technical and policy environments.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to the maturation of our human-centered design practice, while dedicating a portion of your time to business development and internal culture.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in data storytelling, with the ability to translate complex information into engaging visual and verbal narratives.
- Strong commitment to social impact and people-centric advocacy, including a deep understanding of Section 508 compliance and public sector challenges.
- Technical proficiency in data management, including querying databases, cleaning data, and analyzing results.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language or web technology, such as Python, SQL, HTML/CSS, or D3.
- A consultative mindset with the ability to manage multiple complex projects within an agile, cross-functional team environment.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience working within a client services organization, such as a digital agency or consulting firm.
