Senior Backend Engineer at Workera AI

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. Workera is a Series B startup based in Silicon Valley that is transforming how global enterprises manage and develop talent. By leveraging computational psychometrics and advanced AI, we provide personalized learning paths that help organizations like Samsung and the US Air Force optimize their workforce. As a member of our team, you will help us build the next generation of our skills intelligence platform while working in a collaborative, feedback-rich environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of product features, including scoping, building, testing, and incorporating user feedback within small, autonomous project teams.
• Develop clean, modular, and testable code primarily using Elixir, while remaining comfortable contributing across the full stack.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to solve complex technical challenges and drive initiatives that improve our platform performance and user experience.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, preferably within a SaaS or startup environment.
• Strong proficiency in building scalable systems, with a willingness to work in Elixir and Phoenix or a proven ability to learn new functional programming languages quickly.
• Practical experience or a deep interest in Generative AI and LLM technologies.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
• Familiarity with frontend development, such as React or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Proficiency in using GitHub and Slack for asynchronous communication and project collaboration.
• At least 2 years of experience working in a fully remote role, demonstrating the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience with Docker and Terraform is highly valued as part of our infrastructure workflow.
