What you bring
We’re a fully remote, Series B startup founded in 2016 that partners with hundreds of leading employers, financial institutions, and retirement record keepers to deliver the market’s most comprehensive AI-driven student debt and savings platform. As a Senior Backend Engineer on our international team of 70, you’ll work full-time from anywhere in South America, designing and maintaining the PHP services that power our platform while collaborating across product, infrastructure, and customer-success functions.
- Implement and maintain services in our backend PHP architecture.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems that span the entire platform and application domains.
- Recommend architecture and process improvements that raise the efficiency of the entire engineering team.
This role is open to candidates located anywhere in South America.
Requirements
You bring senior-level experience building and scaling complex web applications, with deep expertise in PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony and a proven ability to design RESTful APIs. Strong SQL skills, comfort working within Lean/Agile environments, and the capacity to gather and integrate data from internal and external sources are essential. Excellent written and verbal English, critical-thinking ability, and a track record of independently driving projects to completion round out the profile. An ideal teammate is self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to document processes that help both engineers and the business stay aligned and compliant.
