The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a critical early-stage position for a world-class engineer who wants to act as a thought partner to our leadership team. You will play a foundational role in shaping our product and engineering culture, working in an environment that values high-impact execution and long-term vision.

Core responsibilities

• Act as a technology lead by owning strategic decisions regarding our backend architecture, data infrastructure, and machine learning initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with our co-founders, product designers, and frontend engineers to build and iterate on the core version of our platform.
• Help scale our engineering organization by establishing best practices and mentoring future technology leaders.

Skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a desire to build consumer-facing technology. You should have the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
• Proven ability to design robust database structures that scale with both user growth and business complexity.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization.
• Technical proficiency with AWS, CDNs, and Heroku.
• A track record of serving as a technical lead on high-stakes projects, ideally within a high-growth company environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity with a positive, entrepreneurial mindset.

Compensation and benefits
