At Atomic AI, we are merging the power of artificial intelligence with the precision of structural biology to change how we develop medicines. Our research platform, which has been recognized in major scientific publications, allows us to design molecules that target RNA structures previously thought to be unreachable. We operate at the intersection of computational and experimental science, and we believe our team is the most important engine behind our ability to treat complex diseases.
The role
We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity. This is a hybrid role based in the United States, requiring three days a week at our South San Francisco office. You will be a key contributor to our mission, using your technical expertise to bridge the gap between advanced machine learning and real-world drug discovery.
Core responsibilities
- Take the lead on MLOps initiatives to improve how we develop, deploy, and monitor our models.
- Work closely with our interdisciplinary teams to weave AI-driven solutions into our existing biotech research workflows.
- Design and maintain robust infrastructure that supports our deep learning efforts and accelerates our scientific discovery process.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong background in software engineering and cloud infrastructure. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, site reliability, or DevOps roles.
- Deep proficiency in Python and a solid grasp of deep learning architectures.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS cloud infrastructure tailored for machine learning.
- A proven ability to build and manage MLOps pipelines and observability tools.
- Strong familiarity with Git and modern CI/CD practices.
- Bonus points if you have experience with PyTorch, Jax, infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Pulumi, and a background in computational biology.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $190,000 to $220,000 per year. In addition to your salary, you will receive equity compensation as part of your total package. Our team also benefits from a hybrid work environment that balances collaboration with flexibility.
How to apply
If you are passionate about using AI to solve some of the most difficult challenges in biology, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to be considered for this position. We are an equal opportunity employer and value the diverse perspectives that every team member brings to our mission.
