At Rigetti, we are dedicated to building the future of quantum computing. Our mission is to develop quantum processors that solve the world's most complex problems, and we believe that our technology will only reach its full potential when it is built by a team that reflects the diversity of the global community. We are currently seeking a Senior Quantum Engineer to join our integrated circuit design team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our design, fabrication, and testing cycle, using empirical data to refine our processors and push the boundaries of what is possible in quantum information science.
The role
This is a full-time, on-site position based in the United States. We are looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Quantum Engineer, focusing on design calibration. You will play a vital part in our technical flywheel, where your work directly impacts the performance and accuracy of our next generation of quantum processors.
Core responsibilities
- Bridge the gap between room temperature metrology and cryo-temperature performance by conducting experimental investigations and numerical modeling of Josephson junctions.
- Apply advanced statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to calibrate processor design parameters using the vast datasets generated by our quantum systems.
- Build and maintain robust software infrastructure in Python to automate data analysis and provide seamless feedback to our integrated circuit design team.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong technical foundation and a passion for collaborative problem-solving. We require the following qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a field relevant to quantum information science, or at least four years of equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in Python for scientific applications, preferably within a collaborative or industry setting.
- A deep background in data analysis and statistics, specifically regarding large datasets.
- Foundational knowledge of circuit theory and the ability to analyze electrical circuits.
- Proven experience working alongside experimentalists to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Bonus points if you hold a PhD in a related field or have direct experience with superconducting qubits, circuit quantum electrodynamics, radio-frequency engineering, or Josephson junction fabrication.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to building an inclusive culture and value the unique perspectives that every team member brings to our mission. We encourage applications from women, minorities, and other under-represented groups in the engineering field.
How to apply
If you are ready to contribute to the advancement of quantum computing and meet the requirements outlined above, please submit your application for review. We look forward to learning more about your background and how your expertise can help us improve the performance and yield of our quantum processors.
