PhysicsX is a deep-tech company of scientists and engineers that develops machine learning applications to accelerate physics simulations. Our technology opens new optimisation opportunities in design, engineering, and systems control for customers in Renewables & Sustainability, Space, Aerospace, Medical Devices, Additive Manufacturing, and Energy. The work we deliver improves the design of artificial hearts, reduces CO2 emissions from aircraft and road vehicles, and increases the performance of wind turbines. We are preparing the next stage of growth for our technology platform and product offering, and we are looking for a Product Designer to help shape the interfaces that bring these advanced capabilities to expert users.
Key outcomes
- Conduct user research to understand the needs, behaviours, and challenges of engineers, data scientists, and other technical stakeholders.
- Translate research insights into design solutions that meet both user requirements and broader business goals.
- Produce wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that clearly communicate concepts and interactions.
- Collaborate daily with product managers, simulation engineers, data scientists, and customers to align design work with technical and commercial priorities.
- Iterate on designs using feedback, usability testing, and performance data to improve the overall user experience.
- Design for expert users in enterprise environments, taking into account the complexity and precision these contexts demand.
- Maintain and evolve design systems and guidelines to support consistency and scalability across our products.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies to refine design processes and outputs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of professional product design experience, supported by a portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end project ownership.
- Proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and similar design and research tools.
- Experience planning and running user research activities and converting findings into concrete design decisions.
- Strong command of UX and UI principles, with the ability to create intuitive interfaces for complex applications.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills, including the capacity to present and justify design choices to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and feedback.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience designing for expert users such as mechanical engineers, data scientists, or machine learning engineers in enterprise settings.
- Familiarity with data science or machine learning concepts and workflows.
- Hands-on experience with 3D design tools such as Houdini, Blender, or Unity3D.
Compensation
We provide a competitive compensation package that includes equity, generous vacation and parental leave, complimentary office food, and regular team events. Additional benefits include flexible working hours, hybrid arrangements, and first-class equipment for both office and remote work, including access to our in-house HPC and GPU infrastructure.
