Product Design Manager

GoodParty.org is looking for a remote Product Design Manager to lead and grow the Design team and drive the design vision forward to remove money from politics. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience leading Design teams in consumer internet companies or pro-sumer SaaS companies.

This person will bring their expertise as a leader to develop a world-class user experience and deliver an innovative product for candidates and citizens who are ready to disrupt corruption in American politics. This role is a player/coach role and is fully expected to contribute to design work while also managing and mentoring a team of Product and Brand Designers.

What you’ll do: 

• Develop and grow a world-class team of Brand Designers and Product Designers.

• Create design processes that champion an iterative, fast-paced, data-driven design philosophy. 

• Partner closely with Product leadership to craft a vision and direction for the product, and execute on it. 

• Act as a player/coach and contribute directly to the product.

• Bring your world-class design and brand taste to modernize and consumer-ify our community engagement tools.

• Develop user research best practices in the Product and Design teams, ensuring consistent feedback loops feed into our work. 

• Partner and collaborate with the broader leadership team to communicate and evangelize the Design team and their impact.

• Evolve GoodParty.org’s brand and design system to elevate our brand and visual identity.

• Champion the use of AI across your team and create standards that help the organization move fast. 

• Obsess over the user experience and design accessible interfaces that work seamlessly for people with varying levels of ability. Maintain high empathy in all facets of your team’s work. 

• Report to the Chief Product Officer.

Who we’re looking for:

• You have 2+ years of experience leading Design teams in a consumer internet company or a pro-sumer SaaS company. You’ve managed a team of at least 3 direct reports. 

• You’ve also been an individual contributor for 3+ years with a total of 5+ years of product design experience. 

• You’re highly skilled in both responsive web design and native mobile applications. 

• You’re highly proficient with design tools (Figma, Maze, etc.).

• You know what a good User Research practice looks like within a design team and can create processes that better connect with your users. 

• You’ve built something from scratch or worked at an early stage startup. You enjoy the ambiguous, ever-changing nature of startups. 

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. You are a storyteller. 

• You bring a clear creative direction from the highest level but are hands-on living and breathing the details.

• You have a strong understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices. 

Bonus if:

• You’ve led Brand teams and have a Brand Design or Agency background, but have also been in-house as a Product Design leader. 

• You have experience studying, working, or volunteering in politics, political activism, or democracy reform.

The salary range is $170,000 - $210,000 (commensurate with experience) for this remote, full-time position with excellent benefits. Title will also be commensurate with experience. This range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, seniority, education, qualifications, certifications, and organizational needs. We reserve the right to modify this pay range at any time.
