Imagine a team of engineers, designers, and researchers working side by side to teach machines how to see the road the way humans do. At Aurora, that shared mission drives every decision as we build the Aurora Driver, a self-driving system already trusted by partners like Toyota, FedEx, Volvo Trucks, and Uber Freight to move people and goods more safely and efficiently.
The opportunity
As Product Design Lead for Internal Tools, you will shape the day-to-day software that powers our machine-learning pipelines and speeds the creation of high-quality training data. Your work directly influences how quickly our engineering teams can iterate on self-driving technology, turning complex technical workflows into clear, reliable experiences. Reporting to the Head of Design, you will guide both product direction and a small group of designers who share the same commitment to thoughtful, user-centered craft.
A day in the life
- Partner with engineering, product, and fellow designers to set a clear vision, then translate that vision into prototypes and shipped improvements that balance user needs with business goals.
- Conduct regular UX research, observe how colleagues interact with our internal tools, and turn those insights into design decisions that remove friction and prevent errors.
- Lead strategic design projects from early concepts through delivery, while also contributing to the growth and consistency of our shared design system.
Who you are
You bring at least seven years of product design experience, including two or more years guiding other designers. You have shipped enterprise software, data-heavy products, or 3D visualization tools that handle demanding technical requirements, and you are comfortable working on B2B or prosumer desktop applications. Strong communication skills help you align priorities across disciplines, and you maintain a portfolio that shows relevant, high-quality work. English fluency is essential for day-to-day collaboration.
Why you'll love it here
The base salary range for this position is $189,000 - $302,000 per year. In addition to competitive pay, Aurora offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan, equity compensation, generous paid time off, flexible hours, and dedicated budgets for professional development and learning. You will join colleagues who value integrity, ambitious goals, and a culture built on collaboration rather than ego, all within an on-site environment in the United States where cross-functional teamwork is part of the daily rhythm.
