Welcome to Blackbird Labs. We are a loyalty and payments platform dedicated to building meaningful connections between the world's best restaurants and their guests. Founded in 2022 by Ben Leventhal, who previously co-founded Eater and Resy, we combine a flexible loyalty programming platform with a unique payments architecture that allows diners to check in and pay at their favorite spots. What is this role?
We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. This is an executive-level position for someone with over 10 years of professional design experience. You will be a central figure in our product development, using your deep understanding of our restaurant partners and customers to build scalable, intuitive experiences that define the future of our platform.
What will you do?
- You will help shape our product and design strategy by influencing high-level decision-making and the overall direction of our platform.
- You will take full ownership of the user journey, managing the design process from the initial concept phase through prototyping, user testing, and final production.
- You will work in close partnership with our product managers and engineers to define and execute our product roadmap while advocating for user-centric design principles across the company.

To succeed in this role, you should be a master of your craft with a portfolio that highlights your work on consumer-facing mobile applications. We are looking for someone who possesses the following skills and qualities:
- Expertise in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping using Figma.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate your design decisions clearly to cross-functional teams.
- A high level of comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- An interest in blockchain technology or the restaurant industry is a bonus, as is experience with front-end development using HTML and CSS.
- Proficiency in the English language.
