At Zūm, we are transforming the nation's largest mass transit system by reimagining student transportation. Since 2015, we have utilized our integrated, cloud-based platform to provide a modern, safe, and sustainable service that prioritizes the needs of children and their families. With over 8 million miles completed, our mission-driven team is leading a new era of efficiency in logistics, featuring an electric vehicle-first approach that reduces commute times by up to 20 percent. We are currently seeking a Principal Product Designer to join our team in a hybrid capacity within the United States.
Key outcomes
- Design intuitive, high-quality product experiences that serve multiple constituents, including parents, students, drivers, and administrators.
- Take ownership of complex design challenges from the initial discovery phase through to final delivery and post-launch improvements.
- Translate broad, intricate workflows into elegant, user-friendly solutions for our mobile and web platforms.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align technical capabilities with exceptional user experiences.
- Lead the development of new product initiatives and set long-term design strategy to ensure a cohesive, best-in-class product suite.
- Formalize and expand our design system components to maintain consistency across all our digital touchpoints.
- Conduct end-user research and utilize qualitative and quantitative feedback to inform the product roadmap.
Requirements
- Over 12 years of professional experience as a product designer, with a strong background in both B2C and B2B environments.
- A proven track record of leading high-impact initiatives from concept to launch, including experience with 0-to-1 product development.
- Extensive experience designing native Android and iOS applications, as well as web-based products within the logistics or transportation sectors.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma.
- A versatile portfolio demonstrating deep empathy, strong interaction design skills, and the ability to solve complex, unstructured problems.
- Significant experience building and scaling component-based design systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate a vision and influence stakeholders across the organization.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Practical experience using UserTesting to validate design decisions.
- Familiarity with MixPanel for data-driven design improvements.
