We are Hgen, and we are working to secure a sustainable energy future by reducing emissions in industries that are traditionally difficult to decarbonize. By making green hydrogen affordable and accessible, we aim to address a significant portion of global emissions, and we are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to help us lead this mission.

Responsibilities

Take full ownership of the design and development process for our advanced alkaline electrolyzer, covering everything from individual cells and stacks to the balance of plant.
Serve as the lead engineer while collaborating across disciplines with our research and engineering teams to identify the most efficient and effective solutions.
Guide our system-level architecture by balancing component capabilities against potential vulnerabilities to lower the overall cost of hydrogen production.

Must-haves

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as mechanical or aerospace engineering.
At least 5 years of professional experience focused on the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems.
A solid grasp of fundamental principles regarding solid mechanics and fluid or gas systems.
Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

Proven experience in designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting intricate mechanical systems.
Practical industry experience working with high-pressure fluid, gas, or high-voltage systems.
Deep knowledge of design for manufacturing, including various processes for polymers and metals.
A background in rapid iterative prototyping and bringing products from the NPI phase through to full production.
Experience thriving in fast-paced environments that prioritize iterative design.
Strong project management abilities and the capacity to explain complex technical concepts to diverse teams.
A commitment to first-principles decision making and a genuine passion for climate change solutions.
