At Black Girls Code, we are dedicated to ensuring that Black girls recognize their place in the technology sector. We provide the essential skills, opportunities, and resources needed to lead, with an ambitious goal of launching one million Black girls into tech by 2040. Our work is rooted in the values of belonging, innovation, justice, impact, and joy. We are currently looking for a creative, mid-level storyteller to join our team in a temporary, remote capacity. If you are a writer with a passion for social media and an interest in STEAM, we invite you to help us amplify our mission and inspire the next generation of tech leaders.
Key outcomes
- Develop compelling content across our communication channels to engage our audience and heighten awareness of our mission.
- Collaborate with our creative marketing and cross-functional teams to design and execute impactful marketing campaigns.
- Write copy for various creative assets, including social media posts, email newsletters, event descriptions, and promotional banners.
- Serve as the voice of Black Girls Code on our social media platforms, managing interactions and responding to community engagement.
- Contribute your expertise on current trends and industry best practices to improve our outreach efforts.
Requirements
- Possess 2 to 3 years of professional experience in marketing or social media writing.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to produce creative and engaging content.
- Maintain excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Show comfort in a fast-paced environment while managing ambiguity.
- Take initiative to seek out the information and support necessary to succeed in your role.
- Hold a genuine passion for the vision and mission of Black Girls Code.
- Proficiency in English is required.
Preferred qualifications
- First-hand experience with coding or a background in STEAM fields.
