We are building the next generation of generative AI models at Stability AI and are looking for a senior Machine Learning Data Engineer to strengthen our research efforts in 3D data. In this full-time remote role you will design and run the data systems that feed our 3D model training pipelines, working closely with research scientists and engineers across North America and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Ingest, clean, normalize, and preprocess large volumes of 3D and multimodal data so it is ready for scalable model training while preserving quality and integrity.
- Design, build, and maintain distributed data infrastructure that supports generative AI workloads and enables efficient search, curation, and serving of datasets at scale.
- Collaborate with research teams to translate their data needs into reliable pipelines and explore new methods for creating high-quality synthetic 3D data.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience with real-time or offline 3D graphics, rendering pipelines, and shader development using tools such as Blender, Houdini, Maya, or 3ds Max and renderers such as Cycles, V-Ray, RenderMan, or Arnold.
- Hands-on work with procedural 3D generation, diverse geometry representations (meshes, voxels, NeRFs, SDFs, point clouds), and modern file formats including USD and glTF, plus strong familiarity with 2D image formats such as OpenEXR.
- Proven track record building large-scale distributed data systems, including cloud storage (AWS S3 preferred), data warehouses or lakehouses (Postgres, BigQuery, Delta Lake, Iceberg), and orchestration of multi-component pipelines.
- Experience fine-tuning large generative models on domain-specific datasets, fluency in Python and at least one additional language (C/C++ or JavaScript), and comfort working with AI research teams in a fully remote, internationally distributed environment.
