At Apollo, we are on a mission to make the world’s data more accessible by simplifying how APIs are built and scaled. Our graph router powers some of the most popular websites on the internet, and we are looking for a Lead Product Designer to help shape the tools our customers use to manage their graphs. You will work across our entire ecosystem, including our core Studio product, the Odyssey learning platform, the Rover CLI, and our local developer portal. As a member of our startup team, you will have the chance to wear many hats while bringing strategic design thinking into our engineering-heavy culture.
What you'll be doing
- You will lead our design team in a player-coach capacity, fostering a culture of design thinking and mentoring your colleagues in their professional growth.
- You will develop a clear vision and strategy for design at Apollo, leading initiatives that span our various interfaces and product lines.
- You will conduct user research and stay closely connected to our customers to ensure our design decisions deliver real business impact.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience managing a design team and supporting the career development of other designers.
- Strong proficiency in Figma, as well as experience with Atomic Design and contributing to design systems.
- Technical literacy, including proficiency in HTML and CSS, to facilitate effective collaboration with our engineering team.
- A track record of leading complex, strategic initiatives that balance business needs with high-quality user experiences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams across the company.
- Fluency in English and a passion for working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
- Bonus points for experience with UX writing, branding, or a desire to learn more about coding to better understand our technical product.
