Lead Product Designer at Step

The role

We are seeking a Lead Product Designer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a lead-level position that offers the flexibility of working remotely from anywhere. In this role, you will take ownership of the product, design, and UX strategy for our lending products. We are a design-focused consumer brand, and we need someone who is ready to dive into both physical and digital product development. You will have significant autonomy to make design decisions, influence our product roadmap, and help us scale as we grow.

Core responsibilities

• Design high-quality, interactive experiences for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Lead complex projects from the initial creative concept through to final production and release.
• Partner closely with our product and engineering teams to define our roadmap and ensure our designs meet core business objectives.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in end-to-end product design for consumer-facing applications. We value candidates who have a deep understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, color theory, and prototyping. You should be comfortable thinking at a strategic level about what we should build, rather than just focusing on the visual execution. We require a portfolio that showcases your previous work in shipping mobile or web software. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will need to articulate your design logic and provide constructive feedback to other designers on the team.
