Lead Backend Engineer at Superside

SuperAds is our AI-powered creative analytics platform designed to help marketers decode the factors that drive advertisement performance. As the first standalone SaaS product from Superside, we are experiencing rapid growth of 25% month-over-month and are actively expanding our capabilities in AI-driven creative strategy. We are currently seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to architect, build, and scale the systems that power our platform. This role offers the unique chance to shape a product at an early stage while benefiting from the stability and resources of the broader Superside organization.

Key outcomes

• Design and scale robust backend systems capable of processing high-volume advertising data.
• Take ownership of critical services developed in Kotlin, ensuring they remain reliable, performant, and scalable.
• Develop and maintain high-performance APIs that support our user-facing analytics dashboards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with our product, AI, and frontend teams to deliver features seamlessly.
• Optimize backend workflows, utilizing your generalist engineering expertise alongside specialized ETL experience.
• Integrate machine learning models into production to power insights such as ad analysis and creative tagging.
• Lead infrastructure enhancements using Kubernetes and cloud technologies to ensure efficient scaling.
• Troubleshoot and refine system performance using tools like Datadog and OpenTracing.
• Mentor other backend engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Define our technical roadmap by balancing the need for stability with the drive for innovation.

Requirements

• Proven professional experience as a backend engineer with a history of building complex, scalable systems.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin or similar JVM-based languages such as Java, Scala, or Python.
• Deep understanding of distributed architecture, system performance optimization, and database management.
• Experience with infrastructure and deployment pipelines, specifically AWS and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and debugging tools like Datadog and OpenTracing.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on mentoring and guiding engineering teams.
• A product-focused mindset, ideally developed within scale-ups or product-driven organizations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
• A growth mindset and a passion for solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior experience working with AI-powered systems and integrating machine learning models into production environments.
