About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Human-Centered Research and Design professional to join us in a full-time, remote capacity. In this role, you will work alongside a cross-functional team of researchers, product designers, content strategists, and engineers. You will be responsible for uncovering deep user insights and translating them into accessible, high-impact digital solutions. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about civic tech and dedicated to integrating the lived experiences of users into every phase of the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough design research to uncover user needs and translate those findings into actionable product solutions.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and fellow designers to ensure that products are technically feasible, user-friendly, and aligned with business goals.
• Create design artifacts that tell the stories of the communities our clients serve, ensuring that all work remains equitable, inclusive, and accessible.

Requirements

We value your unique perspective and professional passions above traditional credentials. While we do not require specific degrees, we are looking for candidates who possess the following experience:

• 4 to 8 years of professional experience in content design, product design, UX/UI design, or design research.
• Previous experience working within an agency environment.
• Experience in the civic tech space or designing products for federal government projects.
• A strong understanding of designing products that strictly adhere to WCAG standards and guidelines.
• Current residency in one of our approved states to ensure compliance with local employment and tax regulations.

Location

This is a remote position. While you can work from anywhere within the contiguous United States, you must currently reside in one of our approved states, which include Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin.
