Cardiosense is a venture-backed medical AI company dedicated to transforming the detection and management of heart disease through innovative wearable sensors and advanced machine learning. We are looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our multi-disciplinary teams as we continue to develop digital biomarkers that improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Direct the design, architecture, and roadmap development for our software platforms.
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization focused on lean, iterative development.
- Partner with product teams to turn user requirements into technical specifications and functional implementations.
- Oversee resource allocation, budgets, and project timelines to ensure we meet our delivery goals.
- Manage our internal software engineering team while providing oversight for mechanical and electrical teams working on wearable biosensors.
- Supervise the deployment of machine learning infrastructure, covering everything from initial data ingestion to production model rollout.
- Establish and maintain agile best practices, including CI/CD, release management, and automated testing.
- Maintain strict adherence to data privacy and cybersecurity compliance standards.
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship regarding coding standards, systems architecture, and design techniques.
Must-haves
- Over 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 5 years managing teams through the full product lifecycle from concept to commercialization.
- Hands-on operational experience within a full-stack medical device company, specifically with Class II/III devices, mobile applications, and cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency in microservices and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong technical familiarity with public cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- A genuine passion for leading and developing junior talent.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Background in working with IoT devices, health data, and digital signal processing.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments, including FDA, HIPAA, ISO 13485, ISO 62304, or SOC2 standards.
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, Mirth Interface Engine, and Smart on FHIR.
