Job Overview:

We are seeking an innovative and strategic Head/Director of Engineering to join our team. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role is pivotal in creating a world-class engineering function that continuously monitors, reports, and improves our innovation engine. The ideal candidate will lead our engineering team, optimize the software development lifecycle (SDLC), build and retain top-tier engineering talent, and ensure seamless integration between our onshore and offshore teams. This individual will be instrumental in driving Opaque’s mission of accelerating the adoption of AI while ensuring data privacy and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Optimize SDLC: Develop and refine processes for planning, reporting, and improving engineering capacity and quality.
• Build and Mentor Team: Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team aligned with Opaque's vision and mission.
• Grow and Manage Offshore Center: Grow and integrate an offshore engineering center, ensuring high standards of communication and quality.
• Strategic Alignment: Develop and communicate key themes guiding development efforts, aligning with OKRs and customer-facing roadmaps.
• Continuous Improvement: Establish baseline measurements for engineering effectiveness and implement a continuous improvement framework.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, preferably within the data, ML, and AI space.
• Strong track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Experience in establishing and managing offshore engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strategic mindset.
• Ability to drive innovation while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
• Passion for data privacy, security, and the application of AI technologies.
