PQShield is a deep tech startup founded in 2018 that is currently shaping the future of secure communications through post-quantum cryptography. We are seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead our efforts in designing and implementing next-generation cryptographic IP for semiconductor applications. Based in a rapidly expanding sector, you will work directly with our founders to deliver high-performance hardware solutions that protect data in an evolving digital landscape. This position is available for candidates located in the UK, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, France, or Belgium.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a talented team of hardware engineers, ASIC/FPGA designers, and security specialists.
- Oversee the full development lifecycle of cryptographic accelerators and secure IP blocks, ensuring all projects meet quality and scheduling standards.
- Collaborate with cryptographers and software engineers to drive efficient hardware-software co-design.
- Implement rigorous testing and verification methodologies, including simulations and real-world use case emulation.
- Ensure our hardware designs remain resilient against threats like side-channel attacks and adhere to industry security standards.
- Communicate project status and technical progress effectively to our leadership and product management teams.
Must-haves
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus on cybersecurity.
- At least 7 years of experience in hardware design IP, including 3 or more years in a leadership or management capacity.
- Proficiency in ASIC/FPGA design and validation using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Strong knowledge of cryptographic hardware implementations, such as RSA, ECC, or AES, and familiarity with NIST PQC standards.
- Proven experience bringing secure hardware products from the initial design phase through to final implementation.
- Expertise in hardware development tools and EDA software from providers like Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics.
- A solid understanding of secure embedded systems, IoT security, and trusted execution environments.
- Fluency in English.
