Hardware Engineering Lead at Spire

We are looking for a dedicated Hardware Engineering Lead to join our team on a full-time basis. At Spire, we improve life on Earth by leveraging data from space. As a leader in space-to-cloud analytics, we operate the largest multi-purpose satellite constellation in the world, providing critical tracking for maritime, aviation, and weather industries. This hybrid role, based in Canada, invites you to take ownership of our hardware development cycles while collaborating with a global team to maintain our 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the end-to-end engineering development of Spire designs, including both electrical and mechanical components.
• Lead the creation of comprehensive test plans and drive the prototyping and evaluation of complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Provide essential production support to our manufacturing teams and assist colleagues across various disciplines in reaching their project milestones.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess a degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and have a deep understanding of electronics theory, circuitry, and PCB design principles. We value candidates who have experience with high-speed digital layout, signal integrity, and common digital communication interfaces like I2C, SPI, and CAN. You should be comfortable working with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and you must have practical experience with mechanical CAD tools like SolidWorks. Strong debugging skills and a commitment to design for manufacturing are essential for this position.

What we offer
