Biograph is seeking a Founding AI Engineer to pioneer and scale our AI capabilities. We are revolutionizing healthcare with a data driven approach to preventative care, and AI is at the core of our vision. This is a strategic leadership role where you’ll chart the course for our AI initiatives and, as we grow, build and lead a team to bring your vision to life.
Our small and nimble engineering team thrives on ownership and autonomy. We’re building foundational systems with an eye toward scalability and an emphasis on best practices. We’re looking for people who value product and communication as much as technical excellence. Joining this early provides a great opportunity to help shape our technical systems and culture.
This is a hybrid role based in New York City. Team members typically work in our Manhattan office 3-5 days a week, with empathetic flexibility.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Strategic Leadership - define Biograph’s AI roadmap, evaluate emerging technologies, and establish best practices to ensure scalability, reliability, and ethical impact.
- Structuring Unstructured Health Data - design and implement AI systems to transform messy, real-world health data into structured, actionable insights.
- Enhancing Diagnostic-Driven Risk Score Algorithms - improve and iterate on predictive models to assess patient risk, integrating cutting-edge machine learning techniques.
- Creating a Clinical Copilot - build an AI-powered assistant to amplify the effectiveness of our world-class medical team, streamlining workflows and decision-making.
- Developing an Educational AI - craft an intuitive, patient-facing AI to educate individuals about their health data, fostering engagement and understanding.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
- 5+ years in AI, ML, or software engineering, with a proven track record of building and deploying AI systems in production.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Ability to think big-picture, architect scalable AI solutions, and prioritize initiatives that drive long-term value.
- Able to work in our NYC office (FiDi) 3-5 days a week.
- Passionate about applying technology to improve healthcare.
