Forward Deployed Data Engineer at Datafold

We are Datafold, and we have built the leading automation platform for data engineering. Unlike traditional service providers, we are a venture-backed software company that has completely reimagined how data platform migrations are handled. By leveraging our proprietary AI technology, we deliver complex projects up to six times faster than standard industry alternatives. We work closely with major platforms like Snowflake and Databricks to help our clients modernize their infrastructure, and we are looking for a talented Forward Deployed Data Engineer to join our fully remote team.

What you'll be doing

• You will manage one to four migration projects at a time, taking full responsibility for everything from the initial scoping and planning to the final execution and handoff to the customer.
• You will serve as the main point of contact for our clients, which involves leading weekly meetings, keeping stakeholders informed, and proactively addressing any risks to ensure we hit our deadlines.
• You will utilize our specialized AI tools to configure migration agents and oversee the technical execution, effectively performing the work that would typically require a large team of consultants.

What you'll bring

• You have three to six years of experience in data engineering, professional services, or data consulting roles where you have worked directly with customers.
• You possess a deep understanding of the modern data stack, including dbt, Snowflake, and Databricks, as well as experience with streaming, incremental processing, and stored procedures.
• You are a highly effective communicator who can switch seamlessly between high-level executive updates and deep-dive technical design sessions.
• You have an extreme ownership mindset, meaning you take the initiative to identify and solve problems before they become blockers.
• You are an AI power user who integrates artificial intelligence into your daily workflow and is constantly seeking ways to improve your efficiency.
• It is a strong plus if you have prior exposure to legacy data systems and have participated in previous data platform migration projects.
• You are fluent in English and ready to collaborate in a fully remote environment.
