Communications infrastructure is the hidden backbone of our daily lives. It powers everything from the cell towers connecting your phone to the security systems at your local bank and the high speed internet that keeps your home devices running. At Loop Internet, we are currently building a state of the art fiber optic network designed to bring incredible connectivity to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses. As a rapidly growing regional company, we take great pride in our supportive culture and are looking for talented people to help us scale our operations.
What is this role?
We are looking for a Senior Fiber Design Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of our fiber optic infrastructure. You will handle the technical side of our outside plant designs, ensuring that our network is planned and executed with precision.
What will you do?
- Create detailed engineering designs for our outside plant, including determining cable routes, fiber sizes, and the placement of splice enclosures.
- Manage the entire permitting process by coordinating with city, county, and township authorities for right of way and easement requirements.
- Maintain high quality cable records and update project documentation based on as-built data to ensure our network information remains accurate.
What makes you a great fit?
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in engineering and a sharp eye for detail. We value candidates who can think critically and solve complex problems as our project requirements evolve. You will need the following qualifications:
- A B.S. in Engineering or at least 2 years of relevant experience in an outside plant position.
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD and fiber mapping software.
- Proven experience with project management, inventory management, and navigating the complexities of right of way and private easement permitting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, which you will use to collaborate with our engineering team, department managers, and external utility partners.
- A valid state driver's license and a clean driving record, as you will need to drive on behalf of the company.
What's in it for you?
Joining our team means becoming part of a growing company that values its people and the positive culture we are building together. We offer a collaborative environment where your work directly impacts the connectivity and opportunities available to our local communities.
