We are building an Engineering Center of Excellence in Portugal and need an experienced leader to guide its growth. As Iterable’s Engineering Site Lead, you will shape a high-performing team that delivers scalable customer-engagement technology used by nearly 1,200 companies worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire onsite engineering teams across multiple product areas while aligning with global engineering and product leadership.
- Guide the design, delivery, and scaling of several products, setting KPIs that turn data into clear business outcomes.
- Recruit top engineering talent and grow the Portugal site toward a headcount of 100+ engineers.
- Champion a productive, inclusive work environment that reflects Iterable’s values of Trust, Growth Mindset, Balance, and Humility.
- Represent engineering in customer calls, deal-closing meetings, and incident handling.
- Build Iterable’s local brand by hosting community events, attending university programs, and staying active in the broader tech scene.
- Travel to the United States two to three times a year for technical leadership meetings.
Must-haves
- At least ten years of experience managing the full software-delivery lifecycle in enterprise or consumer SaaS and mobile environments.
- Proven success leading a mid-sized engineering organization of 30 or more people, with a track record of scaling a site to 100+ engineers.
- Hands-on familiarity with Scala, Elasticsearch, Postgres, Redis, Terraform, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, plus the ability to coach teams on these technologies.
- Extensive experience running SaaS workloads on AWS infrastructure.
- Strong history of working with US-based technology companies and ideally some prior tenure in the United States.
- Experience serving as the engineering voice in sales calls and customer-incident situations.
- Highly analytical, data-driven approach to setting goals and measuring progress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; Portuguese fluency is a plus.
- Legally authorized to work in the EU.
