About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will oversee a talented team of engineers responsible for designing, developing, and deploying innovative customer experiences. You will be tasked with navigating complex, ambiguous requirements to build robust, scalable system architectures. Beyond technical oversight, you will act as a mentor and coach, fostering a culture of operational excellence and high performance while ensuring our team continues to grow and succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate ambiguous project objectives into coherent, scalable system architectures that meet both immediate and future business needs.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team by hiring top talent and coaching existing members to improve their technical and professional capabilities.
• Collaborate across departments with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to define product roadmaps and deliver end-to-end solutions that drive customer value.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong background in software development and leadership. We look for the following qualifications:

• More than 8 years of professional engineering experience, including over 4 years in a management capacity.
• At least 6 years of experience leading the development of multi-tier web services.
• Deep expertise in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, testing, and live-site operations.
• Proven ability to design and implement efficient databases, backends, and APIs.
• Strong proficiency in Python and a history of deploying scalable software solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical designs to both technical teams and senior leadership.

Location

This position is based in Canada. We operate as a hybrid company, and for those based in Vancouver, we enjoy collaborating in our Gastown office three days a week.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 CAD, which is determined by your level of experience and performance. In addition to base pay, we provide the following:
