At Shield AI, our mission is to safeguard the lives of service members and civilians through the power of intelligent systems. Our Hardware Test Engineering team plays a vital role in this goal by building the test solutions that ensure the high reliability of our V-BAT vehicle. We create in-house electrical and mechanical equipment to put our components and systems through their paces, whether in ambient conditions or simulated harsh environments. We are looking for a dedicated engineer to join us in our effort to deliver the most reliable aerospace hardware in the industry.
The opportunity
As an Electrical Test & Rapid Prototype Engineer II, you will be an essential part of our hardware development cycle. You will take ownership of the design, validation, and requirements gathering for the test stands used to verify our V-BAT subsystems. This role offers a unique chance to grow your expertise across multiple electrical engineering disciplines, including power electronics and RF, while helping us streamline our testing processes to save lives.
A day in the life
- You will design and build test stands and fixtures, integrating components like PLCs, relays, and harnessing to create robust testing environments.
- You will develop automated test sequences using Python to ensure our hardware meets strict performance standards.
- You will create custom PCBs that interface between our test equipment and the devices we are evaluating, while also participating in cross-functional design reviews to advocate for testing efficiency.
Who you are
You are a motivated engineer who thrives in multidisciplinary environments. You possess a strong foundation in engineering principles and a drive to deliver exceptional results. To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- A solid grasp of core concepts in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, and programming.
- Proven experience with hardware development projects, whether gained through internships, personal projects, or previous roles.
- A collaborative spirit, a high standard for your work, and the ability to be a trustworthy teammate.
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages is highly preferred.
- Experience with PCB design tools like Altium or KiCAD, as well as CAD software such as SolidWorks, is a significant plus.
- Fluency in English.
Why you'll love it here
We are a team that values hard work, kindness, and agility. You will have the opportunity to innovate under pressure and see your designs directly impact the reliability of advanced aerospace technology. We foster a culture where you can take ownership of your projects and grow alongside a team that is committed to excellence and safety.
