Via Separations is a Boston-based startup on a mission to eliminate CO2 emissions from industrial manufacturing. We have successfully deployed our first commercial facility using graphene oxide membrane technology, proving that market-driven climate solutions can provide real value to industrial customers. Our interdisciplinary team is backed by top-tier venture capital firms, and we are looking for individuals who are optimistic about scientific progress and ready to tackle difficult engineering challenges to help us decarbonize the industry.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis within the United States. In this senior-level position, you will play a critical role in our commercial systems engineering group by defining electrical requirements for our new process installations. This position balances office-based design work with field-based commissioning, requiring you to travel to project sites approximately 20% of the time.
Core responsibilities
- Lead the design, testing, and deployment of electrical systems, including the creation of schematics, panel layouts, and one-line diagrams.
- Conduct essential power system studies, such as load flow and short circuit analysis, while sourcing components that meet strict industry standards like NEC and IEC.
- Provide hands-on support for electrical controls, including PLC programming and HMI development, to ensure our systems operate safely and efficiently in the field.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in electrical engineering and industrial automation. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical design, specifically regarding medium-voltage AC systems and industrial installations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and a solid understanding of electrical codes.
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation hardware, PLCs, and common protocols like OPC-UA or ProfiNet.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a practical approach to troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- A PE certification is considered a plus but is not strictly required.
Compensation and benefits
We believe our people are our greatest advantage, and we support our team with a comprehensive benefits package designed for long-term success and well-being:
- Competitive compensation package featuring equity options.
- Full medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Disability and life insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Generous paid time off, including company holidays and flexible time off.
- 12+ weeks of paid family leave.
- Support for a hybrid work environment.
How to apply
If you are passionate about global climate impact and want to apply your expertise to solve complex industrial problems, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to join our team as we continue to scale our technology and drive meaningful change in the manufacturing sector.
