Our design team works hand-in-hand with Product and Engineering to turn complex technical challenges into simple, delightful experiences for the largest user base in crypto. We’re looking for a Director of Product Design to lead our Institutional Products group and help institutions safely custody assets, execute trades, lend for yield, and access new crypto-native features.

What you bring

We need an experienced design leader to guide a team of Product Designers working on Coinbase Prime and Exchange. In this full-time remote role you will set creative direction for consumer-facing web and mobile products, drive user research, and turn ambitious ideas into clear, intuitive interfaces. You will collaborate daily with engineers, researchers, and product managers while shaping both near-term roadmaps and long-term strategy for the Institutional product area. Three main responsibilities include leading and mentoring the design team, proactively identifying blockers and opportunities across every project phase, and directing resource allocation for the current and upcoming quarters. This position is open to candidates located anywhere.

Requirements

You bring at least nine years of professional design experience, including time spent leading teams and mentoring other designers. You excel at UX thinking, visual design, and written communication, and you are fluent in Figma and modern prototyping tools. You have set creative direction for web and mobile products, guided user research studies, and thrived in cross-functional environments with engineers, researchers, and product teams. You are low-ego, collaborative, and energized by turning complexity into clarity. Strong English communication skills are essential, and prior exposure to fintech or crypto is a plus.

What we offer

The target annual salary range for this position is $275,825-$324,500 USD.
