RapidSOS is an intelligent safety company that bridges the gap between 540 million connected devices and over 21,000 public safety agencies worldwide. We are seeking a strategic Director of Product Design and User Research to help us evolve our AI-powered emergency response technology and ensure our tools provide life-saving data exactly when it is needed most.
Responsibilities
- Direct and execute comprehensive user research to uncover deep insights into customer workflows and pain points.
- Lead the design of intuitive, modern web interfaces that prioritize usability, accessibility, and high-impact performance.
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of 2-3 designers and researchers to foster a culture of innovation.
- Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to integrate research findings directly into the product development lifecycle.
- Champion user-centric design principles across our organization and advocate for design priorities with stakeholders.
- Translate complex research data into actionable strategies that drive our product roadmap forward.
Must-haves
- At least 8 years of professional experience in product design or user research, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong expertise in modern web design principles and a hands-on approach to both research and design disciplines.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration with engineers and product managers.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design and research tools, such as Figma.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Background in designing solutions for emergency response, public safety, or other critical coordination systems.
- Prior experience working on AI-driven product solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- A strong portfolio that highlights successful research outcomes and impactful design work.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $220,000.
