We are searching for a Director of Hardware Engineering to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. PQShield is a deep tech startup established in 2018 that focuses on the rapidly expanding field of Post-Quantum Cryptography. Since our founding, we have secured funding and established a clear path to market for our innovative technology. In this executive-level role, you will work directly with our founders to lead the development of next-generation hardware architectures. You will oversee the design and optimization of cryptographic IP that provides secure, scalable solutions for the semiconductor industry and secure communications.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute our hardware engineering strategy while mentoring a talented team of ASIC and FPGA designers and security experts.
- Oversee the end-to-end development of cryptographic hardware accelerators and secure IP blocks, ensuring they are optimized for energy efficiency and scalability in IoT, automotive, and data center applications.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including cryptographers and software engineers, to ensure seamless hardware-software co-design and rigorous testing of all products.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus on cybersecurity.
- Over 10 years of experience in hardware design, including at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Proven track record of bringing secure hardware products from the initial concept phase through to production.
- Expertise in ASIC or FPGA design and validation using languages such as SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Deep technical knowledge of cryptographic hardware implementations, hardware security features like secure boot and trusted execution environments, and familiarity with NIST post-quantum standards.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard EDA tools from vendors like Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics.
