Picture a team that has turned the once-cluttered back office of private markets into a single, elegant workspace used by tens of thousands of companies around the world. At Carta, we build software that turns raw cap tables, valuations, and fund data into clear, actionable insight, and we are now extending that same clarity to the most sophisticated corner of our platform: private equity.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Design who will shape how private-equity professionals experience every part of Carta. In this role you will set the vision for a product used by fund CFOs, investors, and legal teams who rely on precision and speed. Your work will directly influence how nearly $130 billion in assets is administered, reported, and grown, and you will guide a small but mighty group of designers while partnering closely with product, engineering, and our executive team.
A day in the life
- Partnering with product and engineering leads to translate complex fund workflows into intuitive journeys, then rolling up your sleeves to sketch, prototype, and refine the details yourself.
- Running design reviews and 1-on-1s that help your team sharpen their craft while you also present strategic recommendations to the executive suite.
- Mapping user research findings into journey maps and service blueprints that align the wider R&D organization around the next set of high-impact initiatives.
Who you are
You bring twelve or more years of product design experience, at least four of which have been spent untangling enterprise SaaS problems. Your portfolio shows how thoughtful interfaces and interaction details have solved real business challenges, and you speak fluently about typography, visual hierarchy, and the small touches that turn good software into exceptional software. You have managed designers at varying levels, coached them through ambiguity, and influenced cross-functional stakeholders to adopt bold, user-centered solutions. Experience in finance, venture capital, or private equity is a plus, and you are comfortable working in English across time zones in the United States.
Why you'll love it here
In addition to meaningful work that reaches thousands of funds and companies, we offer a competitive salary range of $225,000 to $300,000 along with equity compensation and comprehensive medical insurance. You will also enjoy the flexibility of remote work when it best supports deep focus or collaboration with colleagues across our offices.
