The opportunity

We are looking for a Director of Compliance & Partnerships to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in China. This executive role is vital to our mission, as you will be responsible for crafting strategies that harmonize our autonomous driving business with strict local and international standards. You will not just be managing rules. You will be a key commercial negotiator, ensuring that our partnerships with OEMs, map makers, and cloud providers are built on solid, compliant ground. Your work will directly influence how we handle data, navigate legal risks, and maintain our reputation as a leader in the intelligent mobility space.

A day in the life

• You will design and oversee comprehensive compliance frameworks, managing everything from map censorship processes to the intricate data flow designs required by cloud-connected vehicles.
• You will take the lead in high-stakes commercial negotiations, drafting and managing essential agreements like NDAs and data collection contracts while proactively identifying potential legal pitfalls.
• You will act as a bridge across our organization, working closely with our legal, product, and technology teams to ensure that compliance is woven into the very fabric of our product development cycle.

Who you are

You are a seasoned professional with a strategic mindset and a passion for the future of transportation. You bring a wealth of experience to the table, and you are ready to tackle complex regulatory challenges head-on.

• You hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related field.
• You possess at least 10 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years specifically in the automotive, mapping, or autonomous driving sectors.
• You have a deep understanding of Chinese regulations, such as the Surveying and Mapping Law and Data Security Law, alongside international standards like GDPR.
• You are fluent in English and can navigate technical and legal documentation with ease.
• You have a proven track record of managing complex projects and communicating effectively across diverse, cross-functional teams.

We highly value candidates who have experience engaging with regulatory bodies like the MIIT or the Ministry of Natural Resources.
