Director, Engineering - AI at Sprout Social

You’ll step into a pivotal leadership role at Sprout Social, where our platform processes over one billion social messages each day and delivers strategic insights to more than 30,000 brands. We’re actively embedding AI across our entire product suite so organizations can work smarter and deepen their customer connections, and we’re looking for a Director of Engineering who will shape how that technology scales.

What you'll be doing

• Build and lead high-performing teams of data scientists and engineers, guiding them through complex product and technical roadmaps to deliver reliable, scalable AI and machine learning products used across our full platform.
• Partner closely with the VP of Engineering, product management, and design to define the AI strategy, align priorities, and steer architecture decisions that connect our products and services.
• Grow the team through hands-on coaching, career development, and thoughtful hiring so every engineer and data scientist can deliver their best work while continuously improving processes and collaboration.

What you'll bring

We’re looking for a pragmatic, collaborative leader who has spent at least seven years building and supporting AI products in production environments and at least five years managing data science teams. You bring deep technical expertise in modern AI technologies, model design, and platform maintenance, and you’re comfortable developing enterprise-scale distributed applications with Python, Java, and distributed queuing systems.

Experience deploying, managing, and serving machine learning models at scale, along with hands-on work with generative AI tools such as OpenAI, will help you hit the ground running. You’ve demonstrated success scaling teams through hiring and coaching, aligning diverse stakeholders, and focusing engineering efforts on the highest-impact work for a global customer base. Strong communication skills in English are essential for this remote role.
