We are building the next generation of AI capabilities at Sprout Social, where our platform processes over one billion social messages daily for more than 30,000 brands. As Director, Engineering - AI you will lead the teams that design and deliver the machine learning systems powering smarter publishing, engagement, and customer care tools across our entire product suite.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute the company-wide AI strategy while reporting to the VP of Engineering.
- Form, coach, and scale high-performing teams of data scientists and engineers that deliver production-grade AI and ML products.
- Partner with product management and design leaders to align technical roadmaps with business goals and customer needs.
- Guide architectural decisions for scalable, reliable, distributed AI platforms used across the full customer base.
- Establish hiring plans, refine team processes, and foster a culture of continuous feedback and career growth.
- Evangelize the AI vision internally and externally, translating complex technical concepts for stakeholders at every level.
Must-haves
- Seven or more years developing and supporting AI products in production environments.
- Five or more years managing and leading data science teams.
- Deep technical expertise designing, implementing, and maintaining modern AI models and platforms.
- Strong English communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience scaling teams through hiring and coaching of engineering managers, data scientists, and ML engineers.
- Track record aligning diverse stakeholders to deliver high-impact work across complex product suites.
- Hands-on background building enterprise distributed applications with Python, Java, or similar technologies.
- Experience deploying, managing, and serving machine learning models at scale.
- Familiarity with generative AI solutions, including open-source frameworks and third-party APIs such as OpenAI.

Base salary ranges from $260,000 to $300,000 USD annually depending on location and experience.
