Developer Relations Lead at Spiceai

At Spice AI we make it possible for developers to build intelligent applications that combine code, data, and machine learning without wrestling with infrastructure. Our open-source project, Spice.ai OSS, gives teams a single SQL interface and portable runtime that brings data and models together locally, while our Cloud Platform extends those capabilities at scale. The role

We are hiring a Developer Relations Lead to join us full time in a hybrid capacity. This lead-level position is our first dedicated DevRel role and will shape how developers discover, adopt, and contribute to Spice AI technologies.

Core responsibilities

• Act as one of the public technical faces of Spice AI by creating high-quality content, documentation, samples, and tutorials that showcase our open-source runtime and cloud platform.
• Build and nurture an engaged developer community through social media, blogs, events, and direct engagement, turning feedback into product influence.
• Partner closely with the CEO to define and execute Spice AI’s developer relations and product-marketing strategy while owning the open-source blog and documentation.

Skills and experience

We are looking for candidates who bring four to six years of hands-on experience in developer relations, advocacy, or product marketing, ideally within startups, open-source projects, or data and AI platforms. You will need outstanding written and verbal communication skills, comfort with deep technical writing and conference speaking, and proven success in managing social channels and creating engaging digital content. A solid technical foundation in data, machine learning, distributed systems, and the open-source ecosystem (Apache Arrow, DataFusion, Iceberg, DuckDB) is essential, along with leadership experience that has earned respect in engineering communities.
