Since our founding in 2009, Reformation has been on a mission to prove that high fashion and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. We are a revolutionary lifestyle brand that combines vintage-inspired aesthetics with sustainable practices, operating the first sustainable factory in Los Angeles and pioneering retail innovations that bridge the gap between online and physical shopping. We believe that the challenges facing our planet can be addressed through common sense, education, and innovation, and we are looking for passionate people to join our team as we continue to lead the industry toward a more sustainable future.
What is this role?
We are searching for a Senior Designer to join our in-house design team on a full-time basis. This is an on-site position based in either Los Angeles or New York. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our creative process, identifying emerging trends and translating them into the wearable, beautiful designs that our customers love. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside our Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design teams to bring our seasonal collections to life.
What will you do?
- Lead trend forecasting for your categories by monitoring macro trends and determining which styles to test and invest in for the Reformation customer.
- Manage the entire design lifecycle, including sketching new concepts, developing detailed tech packs, and collaborating with our technical design team during fittings to ensure quality and fit.
- Oversee the sourcing of fabrics and trims to ensure all materials align with our strict sustainable fabric guidelines and broader environmental goals.
What makes you a great fit?
To be successful in this role, you should have at least 5 years of experience in apparel design and a deep appreciation for sustainable fashion. We are looking for someone who possesses a strong eye for design and a commercial mindset. Key requirements include:
- Expertise in CAD and the ability to create comprehensive tech packs.
- A deep understanding of garment construction, fit, and finishing, as well as extensive knowledge of both knit and woven fabrics.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive under pressure while managing multiple tasks on tight deadlines.
- A genuine passion for our brand mission and a proactive approach to working with domestic and overseas suppliers.
- Fluency in English.
Please note that to apply, you will need to submit your resume and cover letter along with a screenshot of your results from an online color test and a mood board featuring five original sketches of key apparel pieces for Fall 2024.
What's in it for you?
We are proud to offer a mission-driven, casual, and entrepreneurial work environment where your voice is valued. Benefits include:
- Comprehensive vision and dental insurance.
- Paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and volunteer time.
- A 401k plan with a company match.
- Additional perks such as a clothing discount, a dog-friendly office, and regular company events.
