At Beedie, we are committed to shaping the built environment through high-quality residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. We pride ourselves on our entrepreneurial spirit and our dedication to maintaining rigorous standards across every project we undertake. We are currently looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our team in Canada and help us bridge the gap between complex design concepts and successful construction execution.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Design Technician to join us on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a vital, blended role that sits at the intersection of design and construction. You will report to the Senior Design Manager for Residential Development and act as an in-house coordinator who ensures our projects are meticulously planned and executed. We are looking for someone with a strong background in architecture or building science who has a passion for understanding the technical details of how a building comes together.
Core responsibilities
- Collaborate with Development Managers to set clear drawing production milestones and schedules that align with our overall project timelines.
- Conduct thorough reviews of design documents using hardcopies, AUTOCAD, and Bluebeam overlays to identify conflicts and ensure our high internal standards are met.
- Provide technical support during the pre-construction estimating phase and assist the construction team with site issues, shop drawing coordination, and the RFI process throughout the build.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a deep understanding of the full design and construction lifecycle. We require the following qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, or Construction.
- At least 7 years of experience in architectural design or construction administration, specifically within mid-to-high-rise, mixed-use, or residential projects.
- Strong technical proficiency in AUTOCAD, Bluebeam, and Sketch-up.
- A solid grasp of construction sequencing, trade scopes, building codes, and material compatibility.
- Experience with BIM software such as Revit or Revizto is considered a significant asset as we continue to implement these technologies.
- An unwavering eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external consultants.
- Fluency in English.
Compensation and benefits
We value the unique expertise our team members bring to the table. Compensation for this position is commensurate with your specific skills, experience, and ability to contribute to our ongoing projects.
How to apply
If you are a self-motivated professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants to make a tangible impact on our developments, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to be considered for this opportunity to join our team in Canada.
