January AI is a pioneering precision health company founded by industry veterans Noosheen Hashemi and Dr. Michael Snyder. We combine continuous glucose monitoring with heart rate, sleep, and activity tracking to provide users with real-time insights into how their diet and exercise impact their bodies. Our mission is to help people understand their personal metabolic health and build better habits, which is more critical than ever given that many adults are unaware they are pre-diabetic. Backed by notable figures like Marc Benioff, Jerry Yang, and Steve Chen, we are looking for a Design Lead to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis in the United States. In this role, you will spearhead the design of our primary app, website, marketing materials, and packaging to ensure we continue delivering innovative consumer health experiences.
Responsibilities
- Direct the end-to-end design process for our digital products, from initial concept to final implementation, while consistently evolving our brand experience across all customer touchpoints.
- Mentor and lead a small team of product and brand designers, providing constructive critique and coaching to maintain a high standard of craft.
- Partner with marketing, product management, engineering, and scientific teams to scope projects, prioritize design efforts, and advocate for superior user experience and interface design.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience working within an in-house digital product team or a digital consulting firm.
- Proven track record of managing, hiring, and supporting the professional growth of other designers.
- Deep expertise in the full design lifecycle, including user research, prototyping, and iterative implementation.
- Strong proficiency in both visual interaction design and structural product architecture for native mobile and web platforms.
- Experience coding or working closely with developers to build prototypes, with a preference for candidates who have a background in start-ups or ecommerce.
