Wealthfront is seeking a Design Director to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. We are a pioneer in the robo-advisor industry, having transformed how people manage their finances by making high-quality investment advice accessible to everyone. With over $70 billion in client assets, we are dedicated to building a financial system that prioritizes people over institutions. In this role, you will report directly to the Senior Design Director for Investing and serve as a key leader within one of our two foundational investing teams. We are looking for a strategic thinker who is excited to make an impact through high-quality decision-making and vision, rather than someone focused solely on managing headcount.
Responsibilities
- Guide the development of innovative, best-in-class investing products, such as our Automated Index Investing and Stock Investing accounts, by facilitating visioning workshops and providing structured leadership.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in engineering, product management, research, data science, legal, and compliance to identify and ship high-impact opportunities.
- Support and grow a team of senior product and content designers by overseeing hiring, staffing, career development, and the cultivation of an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in product design within a consumer software environment.
- A minimum of 4 years of design management experience, specifically within software companies where design is embedded in cross-functional product teams.
- A proven track record of setting a product vision, translating that vision into a prioritized roadmap, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality customer experiences.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with a demonstrated ability to teach design frameworks, storytelling, and problem-framing to your team.
- A deep interest in fintech, with bonus points for previous experience building modern financial technology products.
- Strong strategic thinking abilities and a craft-led management mindset that balances business goals with user needs.
