Design Director, Brand Design at Wealthsimple

We’re Wealthsimple, Canada’s largest fintech company. Our Brand Design team shapes how the world sees that mission, and we’re looking for a Design Director to guide the visual direction while still rolling up their sleeves to create standout work.

What is this role?

This is a full-time, remote Design Director, Brand Design position at the lead level. You’ll set the creative vision for Wealthsimple’s brand while leading a small, multidisciplinary team of designers, animators, and producers. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on design work across 3D, motion, and traditional brand projects.

What will you do?

• Own the overall design vision and quality bar for large-scale brand initiatives, ensuring every touchpoint feels unmistakably Wealthsimple.
• Partner with marketing, product, communications, and editorial teams to translate business goals into cohesive creative solutions that resonate with our audience.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small team while continuing to contribute directly to campaigns, digital work, photography direction, and motion or 3D projects.

What makes you a great fit?

You bring at least eight years of design-leadership experience and a portfolio that demonstrates excellence across campaigns, digital, photography, and ideally 3D or motion. You’re fluent in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, and you communicate design decisions clearly to both creative and non-creative stakeholders. You thrive in cross-functional environments, enjoy mentoring designers, and stay curious about emerging tools and trends. Experience in financial services or tech is a plus, but what matters most is your taste, strategic thinking, and collaborative spirit. The role is conducted in English.
