The role
We are hiring our first Data Engineer on a full-time, hybrid basis. The position is open to candidates with mid-level experience who want to design and own our data infrastructure from day one.
Core responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that turn raw insurance data into reliable, analytics-ready datasets.
- Partner with the Cloud Architect and Head of Data to stand up cloud databases, enforce data-quality controls, and optimize analytics dashboards used by both internal teams and customers.
- Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate project goals into robust data models while mentoring engineers on data best practices.
Skills and experience
You bring three to six years of hands-on data-engineering experience outside of internships. You are fluent in Python and SQL, comfortable with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and have worked with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI is expected. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field-or equivalent practical experience-is preferred, along with a solid grasp of ETL patterns, Git workflows, and Agile delivery.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $145,000 CAD per year, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive equity, comprehensive health coverage including a Lifestyle Spending Account, four weeks of paid vacation annually, and the freedom to work from anywhere in the world for up to sixty days each year.
