We are building the next generation of intelligent machines that will help people live better lives. Our work focuses on solving the most important challenges in AI and robotics, and we are creating the foundational technology that will power future robotic systems across many industries.
The role
We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in Cambridge, MA. In this role you will design and operate the data infrastructure that supports robotic software development and machine learning research across multiple hardware platforms.
Core responsibilities
- Collaborate with research scientists and software engineers to build and maintain data storage solutions and pipelines that run on both cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
- Develop event-driven and batch ingestion systems that feed machine-learning and R&D workflows, while ensuring data quality through profiling, visualization, and statistical monitoring.
- Implement data governance and retention policies, perform system migrations and updates, and write clear user guides for the internal tools your team creates.
Skills and experience
You hold a BS or MS in computer science, robotics, or have equivalent professional experience, along with at least six years in data engineering, software engineering, DevOps, or MLOps. You bring strong hands-on experience building event-driven ingestion systems and working with distributed data tools such as Spark, Ray, or Dask. You have designed and run ETL processes for large, multimodal datasets and are comfortable orchestrating workflows with tools like Airflow, Argo Workflows, or Prefect. Containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes are part of your daily practice, and you have managed schema evolution as well as both SQL and NoSQL storage solutions. Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting is expected. All work is conducted in English.
Compensation and benefits
We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
