At Safari AI, we are on a mission to Automate Action for the physical economy. By leveraging computer vision and AI, we help industry leaders like Universal Orlando, 7-11, and the Charlotte Hornets measure and optimize their operations in real time. As a seed-funded startup preparing for our Series A in 2025, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and help us scale our technology to new heights.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technical strategy for our streaming data processing engine.
- Build and implement robust streaming data solutions.
- Maintain high standards for system design, documentation, and code quality.
- Collaborate with our operations and engineering teams to prioritize tasks and streamline communication.
- Drive continuous improvements to our internal engineering and development processes.
Must-haves
- Five to eight years of experience as a software individual contributor.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Flink.
- Hands-on experience with messaging queue frameworks like Kafka, Pulsar, or RabbitMQ.
- Proven track record of taking a complex service from initial concept to a production environment.
- Experience working in both startup and enterprise settings.
- Proficiency with at least one major public cloud provider, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Solid understanding of SDLC best practices and security compliance.
- A genuine passion for AI and a strong belief in our company mission.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building, leading, and mentoring engineering teams.
- A PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
- Background as a previous startup founder.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies like React or Vue.
- Experience with embedded computer vision frameworks such as TensorRT or Gstreamer.
- Leadership experience in product management for AI or machine learning products.
