As Copy Lead, Studio you will guide how Upwork’s voice shows up across every touchpoint while mentoring a talented group of writers and shaping the next chapter of our brand expression.
What you'll be doing
- Guide and review the studio copy team’s output for marketing collateral, on-platform content, web, events, social media, and additional channels, ensuring every piece meets brand standards for voice and tone.
- Write high-quality copy on your own for high-visibility projects while coaching and developing other writers so the entire team consistently delivers excellent work.
- Partner with marketing, product, and cross-functional stakeholders, translating complex ideas into clear messaging that resonates with both marketing and product audiences.
What you'll bring
- At least eight years of brand and product copywriting experience within an in-house department or creative studio.
- Proven success managing writers and teams, with the ability to shape projects from concept through polished execution.
- Hands-on experience writing across multiple mediums and disciplines, plus familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI.
- A detail-oriented, thinker-and-maker mindset paired with strong organizational skills, self-direction, and comfort juggling multiple priorities.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, including the capacity to present ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English.
What you'll get
The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000–$176,000 USD. Individual compensation will vary based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
