At OXMAN we bring together design, technology, and biology to create products and environments that operate across multiple scales. Our work treats human-made and Nature-grown systems as interconnected rather than separate, opening new possibilities for both fields. We are looking for inventive thinkers who want to help shape this emerging territory.
About the Role
We are hiring a Computational Designer on a Full Time basis. In this position you will use advanced computational methods to develop new design processes and physical outcomes that bridge digital, biological, and material systems. You will work on both client projects and internal platform technologies, turning research insights into tangible design embodiments.
Key Responsibilities
- Build computational design pipelines, tools, and prototypes that explore biomimetic, biointegrated, and biosynthetic systems.
- Conduct applied research in computational geometry, fabrication, intelligence, or dynamics, then translate findings into working design processes and 3D models.
- Produce renderings, illustrations, and presentations that communicate research concepts clearly to teammates, clients, and external audiences.
Requirements
- At least four years of professional experience in a design, production, or architecture studio.
- Portfolio that demonstrates inventive thinking and refined design judgment.
- Expert-level command of digital modeling platforms such as SideFX Houdini, Rhino, Grasshopper, or Cinema 4D.
- Strong programming ability in Python and/or C++.
- Research background in computational geometry, fabrication, intelligence, dynamics, or closely related areas.
- Solid working knowledge of university-level linear algebra and multivariable calculus.
- Clear grasp of artistic fundamentals including composition, form, and color.
- Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and maintain positive working relationships with diverse colleagues and partners.
Location
This role is based in the United States and requires on-site presence.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000–$225,000. In addition to base pay, we offer equity participation, year-end bonuses, benefits, and immigration assistance.
