We are currently looking for a highly motivated Commercial Business Development Manager to lead our expansion efforts across Canada. Key outcomes
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching potential clients within academic, biotech, pharmaceutical, and broader industry sectors.
- Execute proactive outreach strategies, including cold calling, email campaigns, and participation in regional events and tradeshows.
- Qualify prospective leads by assessing their specific needs, budgetary constraints, and decision-making authority.
- Build and maintain a consistent sales pipeline while providing accurate revenue forecasting and adoption insights.
- Manage the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to contract negotiation, ensuring that capital deals are closed efficiently.
- Cultivate long-term professional relationships with key stakeholders to drive sustained consumable revenue growth.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in quota-carrying outside sales, specifically within the research and tools market.
- Proven expertise in capital sales, particularly in the fields of proteomics and DNA sequencing.
- A strong, demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding annual sales targets.
- Mastery of Miller Heiman strategic and conceptual selling methodologies.
- An energetic, hunter-style mentality with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- The ability to travel frequently, as this role requires 60 to 80 percent travel to maximize commercial productivity.
- Ideally, you are located in Central or Western Canada.
- A bachelor’s degree in the life sciences is preferred.
Preferred qualifications
- A graduate degree in the life sciences is strongly preferred for this position.
- Established professional networks within pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic research organizations.
