Chief Software Architect at Smartcat

You will join Smartcat, the essential language AI platform that helps more than 1,000 global enterprises-including 25 percent of the Fortune 500-create and manage multilingual content across documents, videos, websites, and software. Backed by Matrix Partners, FJ Labs, and other leading investors, the company is growing at 150 percent year-over-year while remaining well-funded and capital-efficient. As Chief Software Architect, you will guide the technical direction that keeps this platform reliable, secure, and ready for rapid expansion.

What you'll be doing

• Shape strategies that increase system scalability and performance so the platform can support a ten- to one-hundred-fold rise in user demand.
• Lead the decomposition of the existing monolithic codebase into a modular, microservices-based architecture that improves maintainability and speed of delivery.
• Define and refine architectural processes, champion AI-first development practices, and embed security standards throughout the codebase and development lifecycle.

What you'll bring

• Senior-level experience designing and building scalable web applications with .NET Core, along with proven success in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Hands-on expertise in frontend architecture and a track record of breaking down monolithic systems into microservices.
• Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a solid understanding of secure development practices and frameworks such as OWASP or SSDF.
• Strong communication skills and a data-driven mindset that lets you justify architectural choices with concrete metrics.
• Upper-intermediate proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, ELK, and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana is highly valued, as are industry security certifications like CISSP or CompTIA Security+.
