At Zipline, we are on a mission to transform how the world moves goods by building the first instant logistics system that serves everyone equally. From delivering life-saving medical supplies in Rwanda and Ghana to enabling on-demand home delivery for major retailers in the United States, we are using autonomous robotics to decarbonize delivery and reduce road congestion. We have already completed over 200,000 deliveries, and we are looking for passionate people to help us reach our next milestone of one million deliveries. If you want to help us build a more resilient global supply chain, we would love to meet you.
What is this role?
We are searching for an experienced Camera Technical Lead to join us in an executive-level, full-time capacity. This is an on-site position where you will play a pivotal role in our logistics revolution. You will be responsible for defining, building, and integrating advanced vision hardware into our autonomous aircraft, ensuring our drones can navigate safely and provide a seamless experience for our customers.
What will you do?
- Serve as the primary technical leader for all perception cameras, overseeing the entire development lifecycle from initial design and testing to mass-production scaling for our P2 platform.
- Manage our contract manufacturing partnerships to ensure successful build execution, effective end-of-line screening, and precise camera calibration.
- Direct the internal engineering trade-offs across functional areas like optics, mechanical, electrical, and image signal processing to provide clear project direction and high-quality results.
What makes you a great fit?
To be successful in this role, you should have a deep technical background and a proven ability to lead complex hardware projects. We are looking for someone who possesses the following qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience shipping camera hardware modules at scale, with a comprehensive understanding of the global supply chain from concept to mass production.
- Mastery of core camera design principles, including optics, image sensors, illumination, and system integration.
- Proven expertise in high-volume manufacturing, including assembly processes, line automation, and statistical data analysis.
- Fluency in English and a willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to collaborate with our partners.
What's in it for you?
We offer a competitive starting cash range of $180,000 - $225,000, though your final compensation will be based on your specific experience and impact. In addition to your salary, you will have access to a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and long-term success:
